LED Grow Lights and Its Effective Usage
Nov 9th
There is an easier way to grow plants indoors and that is through the use of led grow lights. Although they may only be small bulbs gathered together, they can be powerful enough to act as replacement for the sun’s ability to give energy. People have invested their attention on the capabilities of LED grow lights and they are truly amazed at the results. If you want to have the best out of these lights, you should look into using them properly.
The proper use of these lights should involve colour manipulation. This is something that all people should be aware of since plants can grow well with the right type of exposure. There are a lot of them found in the light spectrum but adjusting your light bulbs with the right colour will do the trick. Using the blue spectra would aid in the plant’s vegetative stage and using the red spectra will aid in their flowering stage.
Another proper use of these lights includes the assurance of distance in exposure. You need to think about how far or near your plants should be. The nearer they are, the better will be the results but you will have to be careful about this since the leaves will surely burn out if they are too close. Maximizing the exposure with white walls might also do the trick for you.
The last thing that you should know about is timing. Plants need to have a break with their exposure to light and you can do that by turning them off once in a while. You must research on this since there are plants that prefer to have more dark times than days and others prefer vice versa.
They may sound simple but they do involve a lot of deep technicalities. These things need to be known well so that you can fully grow a healthy plant. The library has a lot of resources about plant growth and you should do your work on this aspect. You can click here to learn more.

It's Finally All Cleared out
Jul 19th
It didn’t look like much at first. A few shoots coming out of the ground in a patch towards the back of the garden. Then it was more shoots. And more. And suddenly my whole backyard was filled with the things. I tried spraying them, digging them up and cutting them down. If anything it just seemed to encourage the beastly stuff to grow faster. Even winter didn’t do them, they just came back even stronger in the spring. I finally identified it as Knotweed and realized I needed professional help. I looked up Japanese Knotweed Scotland and found a local company that specializes in dealing with this pest. Once I saw the extremes they had to go through in order to get rid of this horrible plant I didn’t feel so bad about not being able to get rid of it myself. Thankfully it’s finally gone thanks to them and if it comes back I know who to call.
The Truth About Thatching a Lawn
Jun 19th
If you have every wondered what the dense and unhealthy part of your lawn is called? That is called thatch. If the word “thatch” has you thinking about Hawaiian sunsets and hula girls, then I am very sorry, but I am going to have to burst your bubble. Thatch in a lawn refers to dead grasses, pine needs, urine spots and live moss. All of these things prohibit your lawn from looking its best and being healthy.

Power rakes, also know as thatching machine are very easy to use. They have vertically spinning blades which will run along the surface of the lawn and remove all the unhealthy lawn. What is left of your lawn will recover in 3-4 weeks and grow in a lot thicker and healthier without the thatch.

Which LED Grow Lamps You Should Use?
Jun 9th
LED Grow lamps are in different models that emit different wavelengths of lights. These wavelengths are also known as spectrums. You can differentiate these spectrums by the color of the light, which they emit. For growing Vegetables blue spectrum LED Lamps are preferred because they offer a good plant growth rate. For growing fruits and flowers the red spectrum LED lamps should be used because these plants absorb red part of light. For growing general plants a special US patent no. #6921182 is used. This patent defines a specific proportion of LED light. The proportion is Twelve Red LED of 660 nm plus six orange LEDs of 612 nm and one blue LED of 470 nm. This proportion creates a healthy environment for the growth of the plant. This means you should know which plant species you are growing. Depending upon the type of the plant you can choose the best LED Lamp for it.
Those Hot Hot Summers in St. Louis
May 13th
I have lived in St. Louis all of my life and the summers here are hotter than hot, you start sweating as soon as you step your feet outside the door. We have very little spring months, and you must realize that our winters are just as cold as the summers are hot. I walk in the mornings before the heat starts hitting the pavement. I start about 7am. I wear a running suit (no plastic sweat bags), and a towel around my neck. Our blocks are short I’m happy to say and very hilly, yes very hilly! By the time I blow my breath out from going up one hill here comes another one! After a long run I like to take a nice cool shower at home before chilling out in my garden under an umbrella shade or maybe even my instant awnings – the start of a perfect summer’s day!

What is the Main Sign of Termites in Your House?
Mar 26th
Termites can be the most damaging of all the pests out there. In terms of economic costs, it has been estimated that termites cause several billion dollars in damage each year, and homes are frequent targets of termites. Most of the time, this is the result of the houseowners not paying attention to the warning signs of termites.
Since termites are very secretive, the damage they do is not overnight, but takes a relatively long while to become obvious. The first obvious sign is the appearance of mud tubes running on the surface of your walls. These mud tubes are the shelter tubes of termites which they make when they want to cross an exposed surface.
If you spot these mud tubes, it is a good bet that there is an active infestation of termites in your home. You should then call a reputable pest control company promptly, and let them handle the problem. The type of termite control method they will use is dependent on various aspects.

What About Carbon Filters
Jan 1st
Keeping a room smelling fresh and clean is an easy task. Ask your discount hydroponics super store about the many different options for installing carbon filtration in your garden. These new filters help eliminate bad odors without much energy or hassle. Many gardens also choose to use these filters in other parts of their house to keep it smelling clean. The biggest problem gardeners run into is the overwhelming smell produced by certain vegetables. Using the latest in carbon filtration technology, one can be assured of many years of satisfied use.
Only a few years back, it was not uncommon to deal with overweight carbon filter elements. These filters were too heavy and offered poor filtration performance. With better, cleaner granulated carbon, new filters are coming to market with aluminum housings which make the filters over 50% lighter. This makes a big difference in performance and installation options. Having the right sized filter for the application still applies.
Tips on How to Take the Edge off Your Wedding Day
Oct 10th
The day began with manicures, pedicures, hair and makeup appointments for myself and my bridal party. The limousine driver made the day by suggesting we help ourselves to the bar fridge and the laughter grew more with each appointment.
The beauticians played along with us and were really helpful in ridding the jitters and stress that seems to always accompany a new bride-to-be. We then made our way to our luncheon reservations where we met with family and friends who were persistent with keeping time and not letting the bridal party and I derail from the agenda. We stayed on course; we were off to get changed and make our way to the church.
We were off to get our pictures taken after the ceremony. Thankfully, the weather cooperated complimenting each breathtaking photo.
It was time to make our way to the hall for an elaborate dinner with our guests who presented to my husband and I with so many gifts. Hugs, kisses, laughter and dance were ongoing throughout the evening. There were pop-up gazebos everywhere (it was a garden party) – it seems the catering company were taking over the whole show! But it reassured me the guests were well catered to. It was soon time for my husband and I to make our way to the honeymoon suite to change into our going-away outfits. Some time afterwards, we made our way back to our guests to thank them once again for joining us on this special day.
