How To Help An Over-stimulated Child
You’ve got a house full of out of control kids and you’re at your wit’s end. What do you do? One thing to look for is over-stimulation. If your child is over-stimulated, he’ll seem to be like those out of control kids, when he’s really not. If your kid is over-stimulated, he will have a very hard time following directions, even if he’s not out of control We’ve got one kiddo like this – he gets so over-stimulated that if you look at him, his eyes dart back and forth, like he’s on drugs! The best thing to do in this situation is to give them a 5 minute break, so they can calm down. Then, give them the opportunity to do what you asked. If they’re still not able to comply, just give them a few more minutes in their room out of the fray. This will almost always work with an over-stimulated child.
