Codes For Damask Curtains
Jun 30th
We see the letters W, S and W/S on most fabrics. These are codes placed by the manufacturers to guide fabric buyers in taking that extra care of the materials, especially when cleaning it. To differentiate the codes, let’s start of with “W”. The letter “w” is put on fabric which are made of synthetic materials such as nylon, herculon, acetate, olefin and polyester. The “S” stands for fabrics that are made from organic substances or plant fibers. Other fabric materials which contain this code are cotton, rayon, linen, wool or silk, denim, velour, brocade, tapestry, damask, acrylic and plaid. You may have noticed that some damask curtains are given the “S” code. For the “W/S” code, like what it suggests, the fabric is made from a combination of the materials mentioned under the “W” and “S” category. It means that in cleaning the fabrics there should also be a combined procedure. Meanwhile, you might come across fabrics which have the “X” letters. Extra care should be taken in cleaning them and light vacuuming and brushing should only be applied.
